Ringwood Lot #4 (Mt. Pleasant)

Land west of Cascadilla Creek in Lot 4 is hunted by other programs at Cornell and is not accessible to hunters in this program.

Salt Road Fen

Salt Road fen is located approximately 2 miles northeast of Groton.  Parking is along the shoulder on the south side of Old Stage Road, where a marked trail leads you to the 15 acre portion of the site that is huntable by archery and firearm.

Please note that the fen and wetland habitats are extremely sensitive, containing many rare and unique species. Please avoid hiking through these sensitive areas.

Frost Ravine

Frost Ravine is a 29 acre mature forest situated in a head ravine near the top of Mount Pleasant.  Park on the roadside shoulder along Mount Pleasant Road.  The preserve entrance and trailhead are marked with yellow Cornell Botanic Gardens' Natural Area signs.  Follow the trail and blazes to the ravine just past the powerline to reach the huntable area. 

Tarr Young

Tarr-Young is located in the far south-east corner of Tompkins County.  The 13 huntable acres are open to archery and firearm hunting in the respective seasons.  Access is from a snow plow turn around parking lot along Rt. 79.  The site can be easily accessed by the newly constructed section of the Finger Lakes Trail, which is closed to hikers during the firearm season. 

Slaterville 600

The Slaterville 600 Natural Area is located on Hammond Hill, nearly encircled by the Hammond Hill State Forest.  The site has 416 acres open to archery and firearm hunting in the respective seasons.  The primary access is from the seasonally-open Hammond Hill Road.  Traveling southbound, look for an access lane to the west that leads to a small cabin.

Ringwood Lot #1 (Ringwood Road)

The Ringwood Natural Area is one of the true jewels of the Finger Lakes Region.  A total of 258 acres are open to archery and firearm hunting during the respective seasons.  Access for Lot #1 is off Ringwood Road by parking on the road shoulder. Hunting from Lot #1 is restricted to the area west of Ringwood Road.

Polson

The Polson Natural Area is located on the north-east facing side of Snyder Hill.  The site entrance is located at 1581 Ellis Hollow Road.

Lick Brook

Lick Brook is located adjacent to Buttermilk Falls State Park and the Finger Lakes Land Trust Sweedler Preserve south of Ithaca. The site contains 27 acres and is open to archery and firearm hunting during the respective seasons. Site parking is found at the intersection of Rt. 13, 96, and 34 on the northbound side. Park at the trailhead for the Finger Lakes Trail to access the site.

Fischer (Lot 1)

The 57 acre Lot 1 of the Fischer Old Growth Forest contains both successional forest and 24 acres of old growth forest, and is open to archery and firearm hunting in the respective seasons. Site parking is along the shoulder of Rt. 13 northbound where you hike along marked paths. 

Eames Lot #2 (Cady Lane)

Eames Bog is a forested site along Mud Creek northeast of Freeville. The 62 huntable acres are open to archery and firearm hunting during the respective seasons. To access Lot #2, please park on the shoulder along Cady Lane and walk into the natural area along the Cornell owned agricultural field edge. Hunting and accessing the eastern portion of Eames Bog via private property is allowed, by permission only.
