Bowhunting

F1A Zone

Zone F1A is approximately 709 acres of mostly woodlands in 2 parcels north of State Route 13 bordering Hanshaw Road, Etna Road, Neimi Road, and Mohawk Road.  Parking locations for these properties are not defined, but please be considerate of neighboring property owners and traffic.  Both firearms and archery implements can be used in this zone during the appropriate seasons.  This site is in WMU 7H in the Town of Dryden.  There is a maximum of 25 hunting slots open at any legal time at this site.

A14 Zone

Hunting and scouting is limited to weekends only. 

A13 Zone

Zone A13 is approximately 31 acres of woodlands located north of Neimi Road, and northwest of the Cornell University Research Ponds.  There is a locked gate providing access to this site. The combination for the lock is 1724.    Hunters must close and lock the gate behind them when entering or leaving this site.  Also note that access to this area is limited strictly to the hunting season. 

A12 Zone

 

Note that the gate in the east fence will be unlocked and you are welcome to pass through it. However, it is very important for you to close and latch the gate.

A6 Zone

Zone A6 is approximately 15 acres of woodlands located south and west of Dodge Road near the NYSDEC Game Farm.  This site is in WMU 7R in the Town of Dryden.  Hunting is limited to bow and crossbow only during any open DEC Southern Zone deer season.  There is a maximum of 2 hunting slots open at any legal time at this site. Parking is suggested along Dodge Road where Cascadilla Creek crosses . Please do not block the DEC access gate at the curve off Dodge Road. Violators here may be subject to having their vehicle towed.  

A5 Zone

IMPORTANT NOTE

Hunters must maintain a 30 foot setback from the fence around the solar arrays.

Monkey Run (A4)

Monkey Run (Zone A4) is approximately 442 acres of woodlands located north and south of Fall Creek north of Dryden Road, south of Lower Creek Road, and east of Freese Road.  This site is in WMU 7H in the Town of Dryden.  Hunting is limited to bow and crossbow only during any open DEC Southern Zone deer season.  There is a maximum of 20 hunting slots open at any legal time at this site. There are 5 suggested parking areas surrounding the property.

Ringwood Lot #4 (Mt. Pleasant)

Land west of Cascadilla Creek in Lot 4 is hunted by other programs at Cornell and is not accessible to hunters in this program.

Salt Road Fen

Salt Road fen is located approximately 2 miles northeast of Groton.  Parking is along the shoulder on the south side of Old Stage Road, where a marked trail leads you to the 15 acre portion of the site that is huntable by archery and firearm.

Please note that the fen and wetland habitats are extremely sensitive, containing many rare and unique species. Please avoid hiking through these sensitive areas.

Frost Ravine

Frost Ravine is a 29 acre mature forest situated in a head ravine near the top of Mount Pleasant.  Park on the roadside shoulder along Mount Pleasant Road.  The preserve entrance and trailhead are marked with yellow Cornell Botanic Gardens' Natural Area signs.  Follow the trail and blazes to the ravine just past the powerline to reach the huntable area.
